Israeli Shelling Hits Nepalese Battalion Headquarters in Southern Lebanon

(MENAFN) Israeli artillery reportedly struck the headquarters of the Nepalese battalion stationed in Mays al-Jabal on Friday, according to reports.

Lebanon’s official news agency said the battalion is part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). No further information was immediately available, and UNIFIL has not issued a statement regarding the incident.

The shelling occurs in the context of heightened regional hostilities following US and Israel military strikes on Iran that began on Feb. 28, which have reportedly resulted in approximately 1,300 deaths, including several senior officials.
